Adidas Reportedly Suffers 1st Annual Loss in 30 Years Following Kanye West’s Departure

It has just emerged that sportswear giant Adidas suffered its first annual loss in 30 years following the departure of Kanye West, with whom it had a big partnership. Adidas had had to sever ties with the “Donda” rapper or his sporadic antisemitism.

When Kanye West went on his antisemitic spree, the brand and others associated with him were under pressure to cut ties with him, and Adidas finally did, announcing the same and giving reasons for the closing of their partnership. But Kanye West was unbothered at the time. He shrugged it off, despite falling from the billionaire’s league at the time.

It soon emerged that Adidas was struggling without Ye and has many unsold merchandises as a result of the severing of ties. This forced the brand to reconsider its decision and try to get the rapper back into the fold. But then, the damage had already been done.

Multiple reports indicate that Adidas suffered its final annual operating loss (of about $763 million) as a result of the severing of ties with Kanye West. If it would manage to recover that soon is not something anyone can say for certain at the moment. Shows just how powerful and influential some celebs really are.
