AFCON: Senegal Beats Egypt To Emerge African Champions

After a keenly contested game, Senegal emerged as champions of the African football turf, beating Egypt at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The game had ended 0-0 for both sides and a penalty had to be taken to decide the winner. The Senegalese team out-fired their Egyptian counterparts 4-0, snapping a monumental moment in history.

The win is particularly symbolic for the Senegalese side because it is their first ADCON win in history. Expectedly, the jubilation that followed that win, both on the pitch and at home, is best imagined.

Interestingly, prior to the match and prior to the win, many pundits had their money on the Egyptian side. But fate had other ideas. And at the end of the day, the Senegalese pulled off a coup, taking home their first AFCON win yet.

The Senegalese striker Sadio Mane was in particularly top form and at the end of the game, he was named AFCON Player of the Tournament. He’d been to three AFCONs but was finally able to win it for Senegal.

Well, it would be interesting to see if the Senegalese side would qualify for the next AFCOn and ultimately retain their continental crown. Stay tuned, y’all.
