After 30-Year Sentence, R. Kelly Faces A Second Trial In August

It is not yet uhuru, and it appears like the hammer of justice isn’t done crashing on the head of R. Kelly just yet. Days after he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex crimes, the disgraced singer is in for another round of legal battles.

He is due to appear in court in August on charges of possessing child sex abuse images. It would be the second time the songster faces such, as he back in 2008 been acquitted on the same charges. He had pleaded.

The charges come just two days after the “I Believe I Can Fly” musician was sentenced to 30 years on eight counts of sexual violations. He was found guilty of all counts. When the sentence was read, R. Kelly remained expressionless.

However, his attorneys weren’t okay with the sentence and are set to appeal. His victims were more than happy, though. The 30-year sentence aligns with what the prosecution had sought from the start – a minimum of 25 years in jail.

Until we fell in disgrace, R. Kelly was one of the leading voices in the RnB universe. However, since his fall, he has become persona non grata in the music space, with only a few willingly identifying with him.
