His sneaker deal with Reebok was a flop and AKA is still pretty angry long after the deal failed. In fact, to AKA, the Reebok guys are “idiots.”
His anger was borne out of a recent discovery following an encounter with a fan. According to the “Energy” rapper, he had encountered a fan who told him he sold SneAKA (AKA’s sneaker collection released in collaboration with Reebok) for R8k.
On release, though, the retail price for the SneAKA was R1,400. But Reebok apparently manufactured only few pairs – 6oo, according to AKA – so the price skyrocketed when available pairs sold out.
AKA said the sportswear giant ought to have produced more, and ultimately dismissed them as “idiots” in a recent tweet. When a fan suggested AKA was just “jealous,” the SupaMega dismissed him without reservations. He also made it clear he never received any sum from Reebok during the lockdown.
No stupid. I’m saying I wish more pairs were made so people could ACTUALLY have accessed them on a large scale. https://t.co/16vLWWhUrF

by the way, in case you missed it, Emtee, who calls AKA his idol, has launched into the sneaker business as well. But unlike AKA, he totally owns the brand, named for him: Emtee.
Well, what do you think of AKA’s Reebok deal? Have you any idea why it failed? You might wish to join the conversation by dropping your thoughts in the comment.
