AKA Replies Big Zulu’s Diss Track

Just recently, South African rapper Big Zulu dropped a number dubbed “150 Bars,” in which he reportedly dissed several big names in South African hip hop, including AKA – who has since responded in a series of tweets.

AKA faulted the track, stating that Big Zulu can’t create a song in which he dissed everyone at the outset, only to praise them at the end of the song. As far as he’s concerned, that’s not hip hop.

In a follow-up tweet, he noted that there’s nothing as a diss track done in the spirit of brotherhood. You can check out the tweets below.

On social media, the song elicited mixed reactions, with some tweeps stating that it was meant to rouse South African hip hop from a state of slumber. Big Zulu isn’t big on disses. So maybe that’s the reason “150 Bars” has struck a nerve in Mzansi.

Whatever the case, it takes nothing from the singer and his place in South Africa’s music universe. The Inkabi Records boss is undoubtedly one of the key voices in South African rap and is much respected for his personality and art.
