AKA Narrates His Friendship With Cassper Nyovest

AKA narrates how he met Cassper Nyovest and how their beef started.

The beef between award-winning South African rappers, AKA and Cassper Nyovest, in the South African hip hop scene is one that will be talked about for ages to come.

Surprisingly, the beef between two of the most popular rappers in Africa did not start on a bitter note.

AKA has opened up for the first time about how he met Cassper Nyovest. This was in a recent interview. The Fela In Versace revealed how he discovered Cassper Nyovest’s music, his first impression about Cassper and how they met for the first time.

The popular rapper stated that the first time he heard Cassper Nyovest’s song was on YFM’s Hot 9 at 9. He also revealed that it was him who put Khuli Chana on to Cassper Nyovest’s music.

AKA said:

I thought it was really cool. He had a song called rongo or something like that and I was like, ‘this is not bad.’ We was friends man, he even came to my crib, I even made Sunday lunch for the dude.

When AKA was asked why the two stopped being friends, the rapper blamed it on Twitter.

He further said:

Competition, when you’re in the same space. Hip hop brews that… you know how these things start mehn. Ultimately it was really about ‘yo, we finna be the dogs and there’s not enough space for the both of us. I don’t even think there is a reason. I don’t even know why we started beefing but that g-d we did because that beef really blew us up till this day.

AKA added:

The problem is that me and him are the exact same person. There’s no room for both of us. It’s one or the other…one must die.

The talented rapper said this laughing. He said that they have genuine dislike for each other but he always believes that they respect each other.
