He may have had a nearly decade-long career, but Kiernan “AKA” Forbes has never had a number one on radio – well, until recently. So, who in his position wouldn’t celebrate?
AKA recently released “Lemons (Lemonade)” in collaboration with compatriot Nasty C. it was an instant hit with South Africans and became a chart-topper near instantly. Even Sizwe Dhlomo pointed out that it was AKA’s best song to date.
Well, AKA himself was pretty excited about his offering and even more so when it clinched a milestone – making it to the No. 1 spot on South African radio. To show just how excited he was about the milestone, he tweeted about it,
In his tweet, he noted he now has the biggest song on South African radio while also acknowledging that it was not an easy win. He credited his fans for the triumph while also thanking God. You can check out his post below.
With this triumph, AKA pops just behind his rival Cassper Nyovest, who had made the No. 1 spot a while back with a song titled “Siyathandana.” It was an amapiano hit that still resonates with lovers of piano music to this day.
