AKA’s associate and music producer Richard Mahogany has dropped his two cents on the appointment of JR Bogopa as one of the judges of the reality show Idols SA, noting it was a significant choice and that JR merits the position.
JR has been in the music industry for many years, and although he might not be dropping the numbers with viral regularity, he also has a secure spot in the universe of South African music.
Also, besides producing music, he’s been sharing his thoughts on the state of the industry – and his opinions are usually highly regarded. So in that sense, Richard Mahogany’s opinion about the appointment wasn’t off the mark.
In a tweet, Richard Mahogany had spat on the opinions of other critics about the state of South African music and musicians. But he singled out JR for praise – one man who knows what he’s saying and has “paid his dues” (cliché alert) as a musician. You can check out the tweet below.
By the way, JR is one of two judges added to the reality show. Thembi Seete is the other. The two replaced Randall Abrahams and Unathi Nkayi, who both exited the show after the last season.
