AKA’s Father Speaks Out Against Calls To #MuteAKA

Tony Forbes, the father of South African rapper AKA (Kiernan Jarryd Forbes), has spoken out against those calling for his son and his music to be muted, insisting on fair play amid the storm.

AKA had lost his fiancée Nelli Tembe in an apparent suicide. A month after Nelli Tembe leapt to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town, videos and images have popped online indicating the pair had a toxic relationship.

In the one of the videos, AKA had reportedly broken down a door to get to her. This video made many believe AKA was violent towards he and had driven her to suicide. Many are therefore trying to silence AKA with the hashtag #MuteAKA

Women for Change, a group against gender-based violence, has called for the muting of the songster and his music. Replying to the group on Instagram, AKA’s father had stated that relationships are troublesome to navigate, and in speaking about it, people have to be truthful.

About the videos currently circulating online showing AKA breaking through a door ro get to Nelli Tembe, he said people ought to be asking where the video was shot and the context of it.

Well, what do you think?
