Alec Baldwin, Armorer, Others Charged In “Rust” Shooting

It is not yet uhuru for actor Alec Godwin as he has just been charged in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the shooting of “Rust” in 2021.  Also charged alongside the actor are the film’s armourer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and others.

The celebrated actor and others were charged by a New Mexico prosecutor on Thursday in the shooting of Hutchins on the set of “Rust.”

At the time of the incident, the tragedy had reverberated around the world, with many questioning why the gun was armed on set and why it wasn’t checked before it was supposedly accidentally discharged on the set.

The questions continue to this day, with the courts empowered to determine what really went down on that day and who should be held accountable for it all.

District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies has brought a case of involuntary manslaughter against Alec Baldwin, noting in his submission that he had reviewed the evidence and the laws of New Mexico and there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against the actor and other members of the film crew.

Involuntary manslaughter under New Mexico law carried a jail term of 18 months as well as a $5,000 fine.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of the case will be
