Alejandra Rodriguez, 60, Breaks Miss Universe Age Records

For most people, what comes to mind when a beauty pageant is mentioned is a stream of young women competing with each other for the crown. But a lot is changing in the beauty universe as we know it.

For instance, Alejandra Rodriguez, a 60-year-old lawyer has just pulled off a beauty coup of sorts, becoming the oldest person to be crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires.

This milestone makes her a potential candidate to represent Argentina in the beauty pageant of the same name on the international circuit.

Her win was the sort of news that many did not expect and were understandably curious about. It thrust her into the consciousness of many members of the public and even spotlighted the pageant she won in a way never before seen.

Rodriguez being a part of the contestants for the Miss Universe Buenos Aires and eventually emerging triumphant stems principally from a change in rules.

Previously, contestants were required to be between 18 and 28, unmarried and childless. However, such stringent requirements were relaxed in 2023, allowing women up to the age of 73 to compete.

At 60, she would be the oldest to compete on the Miss Universe station – a milestone not just for her but for Argentina as well.
