Thirteen years ago, in 2009, Avatar premiered for the first time. $237 million went into making the flick, which has since earned an impressive $2.84 billion worldwide.
Several years later, work had started on the sequel: Avatar 2: The way of Water. Given the brilliant run of the original, excitement is currently building over the sequel. What follows are details about what’s on the way.
Avatar 2: The way of Water – Cast
Like the original flick, the sequel has a star-studded cast that includes:
- Michelle Yeoh as Dr Karina Mogue
- Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri
- Sam Worthington as Jake Sully
- Kate Winslet as Ronal
- Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge
- Sigourney Weaver as Dr Grace Augustine
- Oona Chaplin as Varang
A trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water is already out, released by 20th Century Studios and The Walt Disney Company. It illumines netherworld escapism that might strike fear in the faint of heart.
True to its title, Avatar 2: The way of Water continued where the original left, more than a decade after the violent battle between the RDA soldiers and Na’vi warriors. Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) would lose her life. That should suffice in order not to ruin the suspense.
Avatar 2: The way of Water is a prelude to other sequels. The second sequel will be released on December 16, 2022. Avatar 3, 4, and 5 will be released December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028 respectively
