Amanda Black Draws Inspiration From Her Xhosa Heritage For “Afrika”

While Amanda Blacks creative music making process is the first to be told by the Apple Music platform in a section called “Song Stories”, She has stated that she drew her inspiration for her song “Afrika” from her Xhosa heritage.

Amanda Black recently released a song titled “Afrika” featuring Nigerian Afro-fusion artiste Adekunle Gold. In the song she showed herself as a proud African woman, who appreciates the beauty of  the culture rich part of the world she is from.

The platform on Apple music is in form of a short video which tells the story of how the song is made, and the daily lives of some top South African artist which Amanda black happens to be a part of.

Amanda Black got accustomed with her culture at a later age, as she was used to speaking English almost every time in her early years. It was after falling in love with poetry, she decided to follow her root back to her Xhosa heritage. The name black was her way of showing her black pride and power.

Other artiste who have also had their stories told on the platform are Ami Faku,Elaine, Nasty C and Sha Sha. Amanda was  the first artiste to debut on the platform.
