The good times are here for singer Ami Faku, as she bags three nominations at this year’s SAMAs, and she is as happy as can be.
She has been nominated twice for record of the year in the songs “Abalele” and “Asibe Happy.” She’s the featured artist on both numbers, which have DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small as the lead singers. The duo are just called the Piano Kings, thanks in part to their contributions to amapiano music in South Africa.
Her third nomination is in the video of the video category for her work on “Phakade Lami,” a collaborative jam with female associates Nomfundoh Moh and Sha Sha.
Her nominations are not surprising given that she has been in impressive form and has been releasing good music since she popped into the music universe in Mzansi. The news of her nomination has fans nodding approval and congratulating her while wishing she win at the end of the day.
Being nominated is one thing; winning is a different ball game altogether. It will be interesting to see if she will walk home with all three awards for which she has been nominated or if she will snap two – or just one.
