It has been a dramatic week for South African media personality Anele Mdoda. And the drama isn’t over just yet. The Metro FM host has just been dragged for dismissing some people for having a “mediocre” upbringing.
In a post on her official X account, the mother of one responded to a post by fellow media personality Sol Phenduka. Sol had pointed out the academic success of South Africa’s Reserve Bank governor Lesetja Kganyago’s daughter, Mmabodiba Kganyago, who excelled in the 2023 matric with eight distinctions.
According to Sol, if other people’s circumstances were different, they would probably have done just as well. But then, poot financial standing simply keeps most students back, as they have neither the conducive environment nor all the materials they need to excel.
Many South Africans agreed with Sol Phenduka. But Anele disagreed. In a post in which she tagged Sol, she pointed out that she and Sol know and respect each other but those who come online to spew insults would be ignored, for they all have mediocre upbringings.
