Anele Tembe’s iPhone Reportedly Wiped Clean, Erasing Evidence Crucial To Investigation

The investigation into the death of Anele “Nelli” Tembe has taken a new turn amid claims that her Apple iPhone was wiped clean after her death,  erasing evidence crucial to the investigation.

A recent report by Sunday World indicated that the police are set to apply for Section 205 of the Criminal Procedure Act in order to obtain records from the deceased’s iPhone. It has also been reported that the Tembe family has asked the police to contact Apple to help with getting the records from her phone to assist the investigation.

Nelli Tembe was said to have kept her pass code secret, with neither her family nor AKA having any idea what the code is. So the question of who might have wiped her phone is one the police are fighting to answer. The deleted records will likely delay investigations further.

Nelli Tembe jumped to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town in what was initially ruled an accident. She was said to have had a tempestuous altercation with AKA in the week leading to her death.

It remains to be seen what new course the investigation will take and if, ultimately, the police will unravel who wiped her phone, as well as what happened on the tragic morning of 11 April.
