Aphiwe Mnyamana, Wits SRC President, Suspended Over Involvement In Students Protest

It appears like the drama isn’t over at Wits University just yet. Whilr the era of fees must fall might appear to be gone, the srama is certianly not over at the institution as protests have still erupted at the institution, leading to the suspension of the Student Representative Council (SRC) president Aphiwe Mnyamana.

Aphiwe wasinvolved in the ongoing protests in the university and that was the reason the institution suspended him. It waspreviously reported that angry students had touched some of the buildings in the institution, but there is no evidence hat Aphiwe was part of those involved in the destruction.

With his suspension, Aphiwe will no longer be allowd into the university premises. he is also barred from accessing the istitution’s facilities, participating in school aactivities or enjoying other privileges accorded to students of the institution.

Aphiwe does not appeare to be much bothered about his suspension, though. He merely took to social media to acknowledge that he has indeed been suspended. For its part, Witss is said to be allowing the law to take its course while also mulling what fiurther action is to be taken agaisnt Aphiwe. It will e interesting to see if Aphiwe would succeede in having the suspension lifted.
