Apple Music Celebrates Africa Month with a Spotlight on Afrobeats

Apple Music is observing Africa Month by spotlighting Afrobeats, showcasing its vibrant and influential nature in the music industry. The celebration begins by featuring Nigerian artist Fireboy DML on the Afrobeats Hits playlist cover. Fireboy DML expressed his honor and gratitude for being the first featured artist on this playlist since receiving continuous support from Apple Music since 2019. He anticipates that this feature will positively impact the African music scene and its culture.

Fireboy DML shared insights into his new single “Everyday,” describing it as a return to his roots and what he values most—love, family, and personal health. He emphasized that the song harkens back to a time of simple, joyous love songs and is excited for the world to hear it.

Additionally, Apple Music is enhancing the celebration with a feature titled “The Story of Afrobeats in 20 songs,” which documents the genre’s growth from a regional favorite to a worldwide sensation. As May progresses, Apple Music plans to introduce a new Viral Afrobeats playlist and a dedicated Afrobeats category page that will feature new releases, playlists, and essential albums.
