American singer Ari Lennox has ditched her management team. The separation came almost a month after she voiced her frustration on Twitter about her record label situation.
In the tweet back then, she had noted that she was done and tired with her label situation with Dreamville and Interscope.
She wanted out, and she got out. For those who might be thinking there was acrimony to her exit, her team had noted that she had parted ways with her management (Black Wax) on a good note.
She still considers them family and is thankful for how far they came together since her signing back in 2012. And while she’s no longer part of the team, she’s excited for the future, assiduously working on her sophomore album.
Artists opting to leave their management is nothing novel. It happens again and again. While some musicians go on to have explosive career growth soon after, some still struggle.
It will be interesting to see Ari Lennox’s new career trajectory.
By the way, Ari Lennox was the subject of controversy recently when South Africa’s podcast host MacG asked her explicit questions on the set of Podcast and Chill.
The question provoked anger and giggles in equal measure from around the world.
