Ballon d’Or 2022: Fans Say Drogba Disrespected Robert Lewandowski

The Ballon d’Or 2022 ceremony is over, all right, but echoes from it remain. Some tweeps are saying that Robert Lewandowski was disrespected during the ceremony. Was he?

Lewandowski has been in excellent form after moving from Bayern Munich to Barcelona, and he was justly honoured with the Gerd Muller Trophy at the Ballon d’Or 2022 ceremony.

The award is given to a player who has scored the most goals for club and country in a given season. The football ace met the requirements and was justly honoured.

However, a minor controversy erupted over how he was treated while receiving his award, with some tweeps stating that he was actually disrespected.

The co-host of the event, Didier Drogba, a retired Ivorian striker and one of the finest in his heyday, interrupted Lewandowski to praise Halland during his speech. To some tweeps, it was the ultimate disrespect to a player who had popped into the stage to be honoured. You can check out the clips below.

However, according to some tweeps, the action could not have been deliberate on Drogba’s part. Whatever the case, as some yet pointed out, it was clear from Lewandowski’s face that he was not pleased with what happened.
