Bheki Cele Losses Cool, Flares At Rights Group Action Society

It has been said that people are human and that there’s a limit to what they can absorb. This much proved true about the police minister Bheki Cele recently as he lost his cool responding to an activist group.

The Action Society is fighting for the Western Cape to be similarly empowered in the police department as the rest of the country. Earlier today, the group had a heated exchange with the police minister over the issue.

The encounter apparently got on the nerves of the minister, who then barked in irritation, “shut up.” However, from the videos circulating online, it was clear the minister’s admonition to the group didn’t have the desired impact, as its members fired back in response.

Action Society’s Ian Cameron challenged the minister for seemingly neglecting the province.

Some South Africans who have seen the video thought the Action Society actually spoke the truth and that the minister should have handled the situation better.

It has been a year of controversies for the police minister this year. Earlier this year, the EFF leader Julius Malema had called him out for being complicit in the riot and looting last year and called for his resignation. The minister, however, said he wouldn’t resign.
