Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Nicki Minaj & More Demand Responsible Use of AI in Music

Billie Eilish, J Balvin, Nicki Minaj and over 200 more artist have signed a letter demanding the responsible use of AI in music.

Ove 200 musicians, including the Billie Eilish, Nicki Minaj, J Balvin, Benny The Butcher, Metro Boomin and more have signed an open letter written by the Artists Rights Alliance demanding for responsible use of AI in music.

Through the letter, the artists are demanding that “AI developers, technology companies, platforms and digital music services” stop the use of AI tech to “infringe upon and devalue the rights of human artists.”

They also acknowledged the potential positive impacts of AI when used responsibly, but slammed the big companies for using the work or artists to train their AI models without permission. The letter highlighted the threats that AI poses AI to musicians’ rights to privacy, their identities, music, etc.

“This assault on human creativity must be stopped,” the letter continued. “We must protect against the predatory use of AI to steal professional artists’ voices and likenesses, violate creators’ rights, and destroy the music ecosystem.”

“We call on all AI developers, technology companies, platforms and digital music services to pledge that they will not develop or deploy AI music-generation technology, content or tools that undermine or replace the human artistry of songwriters and artists or deny us fair compensation for our work.”
