She is not exactly a sports buff, but South African media personality Bonang Matheba may have made a conscious decision to start supporting South African cricket.
The House of BNG boss made this known in a recent tweet on her official X account. In the said tweet, she noted that she was entering her cricket era. The reason for this switch is unclear. But perhaps she might have felt that after the success of the South African rugby team (Springboks), it was time to support another team to victory.
Either way, it is obvious she has got many South Africans behind her support for the Proteas (as the country’s cricket team are known). This is obvious from most of the responses to her tweet. You can check out the post below.
There seems to be greater interest in sports in South Africa at the moment following the Springbok’s historic win at the Rugby World Cup in France. South Africans have been celebrating the win since then, each their own way, with celebs getting more airtime in the whirl of celebration.
