South African singer Brenda Fassie might be dead, but her memory is still pretty fresh. This shouldn’t be a surprise because she made quite an impact in the music industry before her sudden death several years ago.
It is this impact that makes people around the world continue to remember her long after her death. The songstress was born on November 3, 1964, in Cape Town, South Africa. She died forty years later, in 2004.
It’s been over two decades since her death, but her memory lives. Not surprisingly, when November 3 came around this year, many of her compatriots made it a point to celebrate her “heavenly birthday.” From Facebook to Twitter, down to Instagram, many had one positive thing or the other to say about her and her impact on South Africa’s music industry. You can check out some of the responses to the post below.

Brenda Fassie had only one child at the time of her death. It is public knowledge that she wanted another child and even asked for sperm donors but she was unsuccessful at the time of her death. Anyway, her only child, Bongani Fassie, has grown into a young man battling his own demons, including drug abuse.
