Burna Boy Pays Tribute To AKA

It’s been exactly a week since he was gunned down on the streets of Durban, but the tributes continue for Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. The latest to pay tribute to his memory is the Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, long famous by the stage name Burna Boy.

In a post on his Instagram story, the Nigerian had expressed his shock at the news of the South African’s death, noting that it took him out of a positive mood.

In his post, he shared a sentiment that many have been expressing since AKA was shot at point-blank range by unidentified gunmen, putting an end to a brilliant music career.

Burna Boy paying a tribute to AKA wouldn’t surprise anyone who knows their history together. The two had collaborated on a song previously but had a semblance of a falling apart over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

AKA still made it clear on social media that he has no issues with Burna Boy. He even congratulated the “African Giant” on winning a Grammy award.

By the way, AKA’s memorial will hold later today, Friday, February 17. Tickets for the event have already sold out. His funeral will take place tomorrow, February 18. It will be a private ceremony.
