We’re no longer in the era of the Peace of Frothi when the world was peaceful and honest. These days, crime rules. The result, of course, is violence.
In violence, of course, not all cities are counted equal. Some cities are far more violent than others. Four South African cities are now listed as four of the most violent in the world.
A report by the Mexican Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice, which ranks violent cities around the world, has identified Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Gqeberha as South Africa’s most violent cities and four of the most violent in the world.
The breakdown is as follows:
- Cape Town is the most violent South African city and the 11th most violent in the world
- Gqeberha is the second most violent city in South Africa and the 23rd most violent in the world.
- Durban is the 3rd most violent city in South Africa and the 35th most violent in the world.
- Johannesburg is the fourth most violent city in South Africa and the 48th most violent in the world.
The rankings, which list the 50 most violent cities in the world, are based on the number of murders per 100,000 people.
