Cape Town International Jazz Festival Returns

Jazz fans thrilled after the Cape Town International Jazz Festival finally returned.

Cape Town burst into multi-coloured lights following the grand return of the 21st Cape Town International Jazz Festival after a four-year hiatus. That was a indeed a long wait.

News24 reports that thousands of jazz enthusiasts flocked to the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday and Saturday, the 3rd and 4th May to witness local and international stars take over the festival stage.

A free concert was given on Thursday 2 May at the Greenmarket Square and it did not disappoint. The artists who performed for the two nights include Judith Sephuma, Billy Monama, Ami Faku, Radio Sechaba, Mervyn Africa, Mörda, Mi Casa and more.

The International artists include Matt Bianco, Moonchild, Francesca Biancoli, and the Yussef Dayes Experience. They all graced the Kippies, Moses Molelekwa, Rosies and Manenberg stages.

In a press statement, espAfrika, the events management and production company and also the mastermind behind the event said,

“The programming was outstanding this year as reflected in the diverse audience from across the country and beyond our borders, who experienced this year’s festival, some for the first time and for others, a reconnection with the music and fellow festival lovers. There is no doubt the CTIJF is back, and it means business.”
