Just recently, South Africa’s music industry reverberated with the news that Family Tree CEO and “Amademoni” hitmaker Cassper Nyovest signed a R1oo million deal with Drip Footwear.
Details about the deal, which goes by the hashtag #TheLegacyDeal, are beginning to trickle from the orbit of the celebrated hip hop champ. In a tweet yesterday 23 June, Cass had informed his Twitter followers that a new collection from Drip Footwear, dubbed Root of Fame, will be out next week.
He gave no exact day but indicated in the same tweet that he and Lekau Sehoana have been working on the project for the past two years. In others words, before the fanfare of the announcement, Cass and Lakau were working behind the scenes.
Cassper Nyovest’s excitement about the imminent launch is shared by his fans, as should be obvious to their responses to his tweet.

Whether by design or by coincidence, the week slated for the launch of the Root of Fame collection is the same Cassper Nyovest gave for the release on an album, an amapiano compilation dubbed “Short and Sweet 2.0.”
