When gospel musician Betusile Mcinga and his song, “Ngena Noah,” won Song of the Year at the 2023 Metro FM Music Awards, K.O’s delight was shared by Cassper Nyovest.
Given its enormous success, it had been widely predicted that K.O’s song “Sete” would win the category. Many supporters, however, expressed their displeasure with Mcinga’s victory on Twitter and questioned the gospel musician’s victory.
Cassper Nyovest, who had never heard “Ngena Noah” before, was among those surprised by the decision. “I really thought K.O would win Song of the Year at the Metros,” he tweeted. I’m positive I’m not the only one who had this opinion.
Nyovest ultimately listened to the gospel track and appreciated its quality despite his initial amazement. I’m not going to lie, though; that gospel music is catchy! I didn’t realize it until tonight, but the tune keeps playing in my head. Hahah.”
He said when he came to his conclusion, “I’m sure he’s very deserving, I just didn’t know the song, and I thought ‘Song of the Year’ was an obvious one for Sete.”
