SA Hip Hop star Cassper Nyovest has invested in security following the death of his friend DJ Sumbody.
Cassper Nyovest is one of the country’s biggest stars and one of the most influential. Last year, his friend, DJ Sumbody, was shockingly gunned down, and there’s been no lead on the incident.
Speaking to Zimoja, the Hip Hop star said he has invested in security since then because it means he isn’t safe either. He said, “It’s not safe man. I have been ignorant for a very long time and DJ Sumbody’s death woke me and made me realise that we are not safe. His death really f%&ked me up,”
He continued “I am always walking around with expensive jewelry I can’t afford to put my life at risk and tempt people. I also need to remember who I am; I am Cassper Nyovest. I am not just some normal guy who can just walk around freely.”
He acknowledged the fact that he can’t move around like an ordinary person. “I would love to live like that, walk round the streets, and not be recognised, but I am not that guy. Someone made me realise that this is not the way to go, and Sumbody’s death made me aware that, I need to be safe and remember who I am. We spend a lot of money on stupid things, so why not invest in security and knowing that wherever I move, I am a bit safer and everything is controlled.”
Cass explained more about the security around him. He said, “It comes as part of the booking. Even before I blew up, when I travel to other countries they come with mad bodyguards and safety. They even stand outside your hotel room, it’s the norm and I will be doing the same here at home. People are hungry.”
