Celebrated Talk Show Host Jerry Springer Dead At 79

Celebrated talk show host and former mayor of Cincinnati Jerry Springer is dead, according to a statement released by his family. He was 79.

Springer traversed several corridors in his long life and did well in them. However, it was as a talk show host that he earned the most flowers. His days as mayor dies not come close when compared to his time on the tube.

Springer was suffering from cancer, and that was likely what killed him at his home in Chicago. A family spokesperson not only confirmed the death but also noted that he died peacefully on Thursday.

In the years of his power, he was the host of a show named for him – “The Jerry Springer Show” – which he ran for almost three decades. The show eventually ended in 2018 after about four thousand episodes – easily a record for a television personality.

Springer had the most success as a talk show host and not as a politician. His attempt to run for Congress in 1970 was unsuccessful. He was later elected to the Cincinnati Council the following year. But he would resign three years later over a sex scandal.

He would be missed for his contributions to America’s talk show universe.
