Chippa United Boss Under Fire For Supporting Super Eagles

GFootball is one game that usually ignites a lot of emotion as fans do anything and everything to support their teams. This much played about again recently at AFCON, with Chippa United boss Siviwe Mpenmgesi supporting Nigeria over South Africa.

Chippa United is a South African club which has Stanley Nwabali (a part of the Nigerian Super Eagles) as a goalkeeper. In the ongoing African Cup of Nations, Stanley is on goalkeeping duties for Nigeria.

Ahead of South Africa’s clash against the Super Eagles, Chippa United boss Siviww Mpengesi has thrown his weight behind Nwabali and the Super Eagles. He is supporting them against his country South Africa.

This most infuriated many South Africans who denounced him as unpatriotic. The denunciations were so resounding that Chippa United had to take down the post in which the club boss had shown support to the Nigerian side and Nwabali.

The same ended with victory for Nigeria following a penalty shootout. That win provoked massive celebration across Nigeria, with some business people giving away free products as a way to celebrate the country’s triumph against South Africa.

It was a moment of relief of sorts for a country plagued by corruption and obtuse leadership
