Bonang Matheba has joined the league of those condemning South Africa’s minister of arts and culture Nathi Mthethwa for his plans to erect a 100-metre monument flag for R22 million.
Since the announcement was made, the minister has been under severe flak from many angles, political and social, with many describing the plan as misplaced if not outright stupid. Some critics had pointed out that the minister failed to support artists during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, only to budget R22 million for a project that would not directly impact the lives of the people.
Never one to mince her words, Bonang described the minister as “useless,” adding that she and other South Africans hate him.
She didn’t stop there, however. She also shared a clip where the minister discussed his current pet project – the controversial flag monument. In the caption to the clip, she implored President Cyril Ramaphosa to fire the minister. You can check it out below.

In another tweet, she made it clear that the minister was clueless. She urged him to go away. Her tweet got massive traction and many of her fans supported her verdict about the minister.
But will he bow to pressure and ditch the project?
