Controversy As Mbongeni Ngema’s Family Sets To Exhume His Remains

The producer Mbongeni Ngema may be dead, but it doesn’t appear like he is resting in peace – or will be allowed the peace of his current abode at the Chesterville Heroes’ Acre in Red Hill Cemetery, Durban.

His family is reportedly in the process of exhuming his remains and burying him elsewhere because, according to them, quoting home affairs, he died single.

Ngema died following a crash with a truck on the R61 in Mbizana last year. he was reportedly heading home from a burial when the accident happened. Given his contributions to South African culture. local authorities decided to take care of his burial back then.

Months have passed and it appears like his family is not cool with where he was buried and is already making plans to exhume his remains and bury him elsewhere.

Before his burial, his family had reportedly expressed displeasure with the handling of his passing. Now it is seeking legal backing to exhume his remains and bury him among his ancestors.

Whether they will succeed is unclear at this point. but some South Africans already find the exhumation move repugnant. Some others, however, are in support of the family’s decision.

Time will tell what happens next. Stay tuned.
