South African rapper Da LES’s all-white party was held as usual over the weekend around the same period of the anniversary of his late friend AKA. The decision to hold the party regardless appeared to have surprised some South Africans.
The songster and AKA were pretty close. Along the line, though, it was claimed that AKA had sexual liaisons with Da LES’s baby mama and this allegedly strained their relationship.
It was also claimed that Da LES addressed this “betrayal” in his song “Gucci Snakes,” where he sings in part:
Niggas’ll try to bite your soul just to take your placeTry to fuck your baby mama to see how it tastesHandshakes associates a turn to Gucci snakes yeahHandshakes associates a turn to Gucci snakes.
He never directly addressed the claims of whether Kiernan actually banged his babe or not. But that’s by the way. Everyone has seemingly moved on. Da LES certainly wouldn’t want to be dragged into unnecessary drama, which perhaps explains why he has yet to answer fans who wondered why his all-white party went ahead.
AKA was murdered on February 10 last year just outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. Also killed with him was his former manager Tebello Motsoane
