About

Date My Family is a reality TV show which follows a suitor as they go on dates with 3 different families of potential dates. They finally pick one date while the rejected ones are visited with a token. According to Wiki, the “series aims to help singletons find their love interest by setting them on dates with their potential partner’s closest friends and families.”

This means that the impression the dates’ families and closest friends leave on the suitor proves if they would like to take the next big step with them. Exciting right?

During the dating period, the three potential dates are kept out of sight while the watch the action unfold from a screen. Of course, they hope their families paint them in a positive light, and make the best impression on the suitor.

There is also an unforgettable final date. Imagine having virtually everyone in your family (dad, mom, siblings, uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces, nephews and even grandparents) going on a first date with the person you could end up with. Now, that has got to make you feel some type of way.

What if someone says something they shouldn’t? That’s the suspense you’d get to feel watching the show. In the end, we wonder if it would actually be love at first encounter between the actual dates, or not.

Date My Family is produced for Mzansi Magic by Connect TV. The show is executive produced by Clifford Elk, Basetsana Khumalo, and Kopano Gelman.

It airs on Mzansi Magic, Mzansi Wethu, eReality and e.tv. On Mzansi Magic, it airs on Sundays (18h-19h), on Mzansi Wethu; Fridays (18:30-19:30), eReality; Sundays (20h-21h), and e.tv; Saturdays (18h-19h).

Date My Family has been on for 9 seasons. It premiered on May 24th, 2015. The first season had a total of 33 episodes. The rest have had from 13 to 33 episodes.
