Deaths In The Industry: Major League DJz Memorializes Costa Titch. AKA, & Ricky Rick

South Africa’s music industry has been hit by the deaths of some of its notable figures. The result is that the industry and indeed South Africans as a whole are uneasy. South African boy band Major League has just paid a quiet tribute to three of the recent dead: Ricky Rick, AKA, and Costa Titch.

Riky Rick, who is related to Major League DJz, a band comprising twin brothers Bandile and Banele, had committed suicide on February 23 last year in his studio, which wasn’t far from his home. In December of that year, DJ Sumbody (Oupa John Sefoka) had been killed by gunmen.

2023 came with tragedy in the bag as well. On February 10, AKA was shot dead at point-blank range as he stepped out of Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. Killed with him was his former manager, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

March came, bringing yet another death in the industry. Costa Titch had collapsed and died while performing at Ultra in Johannesburg, The cause of his death has yet to be determined, but some sources allege that the flashing lights on stage must have provoked a seizure.

The point is, the death of a young person stabs the soul, and it hurts to see these young souls leave so soon, as Major League DJz captured in their tweet below.
