Amapiano star DJ Maphorisa has reportedly been detained for assaulting his girlfriend, fellow musician Thuli Phongolo. According to reports, although he tried to get bail after he was detained for assault, it was;t possible. So he would have to appear in court today for the case to be determined.
Speaking on the alleged assault, Thuli Phongolo claimed that he held her, took her to the balcony and grabbed her aggressively by the neck. Some sources claimed that he slapped her.
Her road manager confirmed the incident while also noting that she was with her road manager and he, the manager, doesn’t;t have much information at the time.
DJ Maphorisa and Thuli Phongolo have an interesting relationship. They were a little “sneaky” about their relationship in the past. Despite getting pretty cosy during performances together, they denied they were dating, with Thuli stating she was single. Well, the whole truth spilt out soon enough.
And now it appears, as peeps would say, that there is trouble in paradise. DJ Maphorisa would reportedly appear in court today, Monday, to face a charge of gender=based violence (GBV), something for which South Africa is infamous. It will be interesting to see how the case will pan out.
