Did Kurt Darren Mess up Brenda Fassie’s “Vulindlela”

Do you think Kurt Darren succeeded in pulling off the Brenda Fassie cover?

Weighing in on Kurt Darren’s cover of Brenda Fassie’s “Vulindlela”, do you think it was a hit or a miss?

Brenda Fassie is one Mzansi legend whose name will never be forgotten. In fact, her music continues to live even after her death. The iconic singer released some huge hits during her time alive and it takes a lot to actually pull off a cover of them.

In 1997, Fassie released “Vulindlela”, a song which has gone on to be one of her biggest hits ever. Mzansi singer, Kurt Darren recently teamed up with the Soweto Gospel Choir to record a cover of the song. It has been released as the lead single of their collaborative album “The South African Song Book”.

The new cover has a faster tempo, and some of the Choir’s lead singers have solos. Question is, do you think they did a great job at it? It is definitely not the same as the original. By the way, the album drops on July 17th. You can pre-order it on Apple Music and listen to the new version of Vulindlela here.
