This might appear like a joke to some people, but Dineo Ranaka has implied that radio is actually not for her. Yup, you heard that right. Imagine someone who has had almost all her life around radio saying that.
But that is just part of the reality she exposed during a sit-down with Noimalanga Dhozi on the set of BET’s Behind The Story.
To show that she was on point in her assessment of her reality, Dineo Ranaka pointed out in the following words: “5FM I fell sick, YFM I fell sick, Metro FM I went to initiation school, Kaya FM I got depression.”
Her last stint was at Kaya FM. She suffered depression back then – or so she said – and travelled to the United States, reportedly without permission. As a result, she was reportedly dropped by the station, leaving her without an immediate replacement gig at the time.
Around the same period, before the whole drama with the station, she had posted online about being suicidal. In fact, it was reported that she would have taken her own life but for her fear about what might happen to her children.
Anyway, she is in a better place now, and as you well know, life must go on.
