Dingaan Thobela Has Been Laid to Rest

Tributes pour in as boxing legend Dingaan Thobela a.k.a The Rose of Soweto is finally laid to rest.

After a very successful boxing career, Dingaan Thobela has passed on to greater glory. According to recent reports by Briefly News, the boxing icon was laid to rest on 9 May 2024, and family, friends and fans were present to pay their respects to him.

The memorial service for Dingaan Thobela was held at the Dlamini Multipurpose Centre in Soweto. After that, he was then laid to rest at the West Park Cemetery in Johannesburg. Briefly reports that his casket was customised to reflect the legendary boxer that he was.

News page MDN News shared a video posted by a person who attended the funeral. It revealed people who wore boxing attire, surrounding his casket, and mimicking boxing movements. What a way to pay final respects. Also, Famous painter Rasta was also seen painting a portrait of the late boxer.

MDN News captioned the tweet,

“The funeral service of the late Dingaan Thobela is currently underway in Dlamini multipurpose hall, Soweto.”
