The Scorpion King DJ Maphorisa has thrown a shade the way of fellow musician and producer, DJ Shimza, wondering why the songster was doing nothing to uplift up and coming musicians.
Shimza had written that he has some heat – or great jam, if you please – coming. In response to Shimza, DJ Maphorisa had wondered why the “Dark Caves” star was always making music alone.
He said that Shimza was always pushing himself in the music game without including younger artistes. He encouraged Shimza to grow the afro house movement in his own way and not focus entirely on himself.
Accreting to Phori, it is this focus on self that makes younger musicians to hate the already established ones. He ultimately shared his belief that Shimza had not created the beat of his imminent project alone.
Shimza was gracious in his reply to DJ Maphorisa. According to him, he had created KUNYE specifically for the reasons DJ Maphorisa mentioned. KUNYE showcases the music and gives artistes the opportunity to stream their sets.
