If you were very present on social media on Friday, October 9, then you may have caught one of the day’s biggest trends, the #EndSARS movement. Nigerians are currently protesting a rogue police unit set up by the government.
According to reports, this unit called SARS is known for extorting, exploiting, Killing, and doing a lot of evil to the youth in the country. The #EndSARS hashtag trended at number one worldwide with some of the biggest names in the music industry chiming in. This includes Cardi B, Lil Baby, Trey Songz, Moneybagg Yo, and more.
Some of SA’s biggest names including Gemini Major, DJ Maphorisa, Da L.E.S, Nasty C and more also showed their support for the Nigerian youth on Twitter. Hopefully, things get resolved and the people go back to feeling safe in their countries.
