In response to enquiry from a fan, DJ Maphorisa, who is fondly called Lawd Phory, stated that it is important to make mixes smooth. To achieve that, two baselines or chords should not be mixed.
To try to mix them, according to him, is to create something horrible. He urged amapiano DJs and every other DJ out there to use one baseline at a time when they mix. You can check out his tweets below.
By the way, with the lockdown recently relaxed to level one, the party season is beginning to pick up again in Mzansi. DJ Maphorisa was immediately hired as a DJ immediately the lockdown was eased because of his skills at the decks and turntables.
The advice he gave is what he has himself been implementing as a DJ and producer. Maybe he knows what he is talking about, and DJs who follow his advice might thank him later.
