DJ Mashata’s Friends Give Proceeds From His Tribute Concert to His Family

DJ Mashata’s friends have given all the proceeds from his tribute concert to his family.

DJ Mashata’s industry friends have kept their word about his tribute concert. The 46 years old entertainer and businessman was shot and killed in a hail of bullets in Soshanguve, northwest of Pretoria, in the early hours of Sunday, 21 April, while returning from a gig at Epozini Lifestyle.

His friends, including Metro FM hosts Paul Mtirara, Wilson B Nkosi, comedian Mashabela and DJ Young, hosted a tribute concert at the Emperor’s Palace on Thursday, and promised to give the proceeds to his family.

They kept their word, and have shared a picture showing comedian Mashabela handing over the R187 300 cheque to Mashata’s family.

Also, while speaking to the media about her son’s assassination, Mashata’s mother called for justice and said,

“It’s still a question mark to me, that he is not gone, maybe he’s around. It is so painful. Let it not just be interviews, let it not a visit of the premier to my house or the councillor to my house. Let it be that justice is served.”

“He was always a smiley boy… he was very supportive. I’ve got two hands, it’s like one of my hands has been ripped off.”
