South African media personality and musician DJ Sbu is under fire after expressing his agreement with compatriot DJ Maphorisa on music copyright ownership.
In case you missed it, DJ Maphorisa ignited controversy during a recent Instagram Live with his fans. At that moment, he had pointed out that any music produced with his musical equipment belongs to him.
By being the owner of the equipment used in producing the music, as well as taking care of other needs, including electricity, then the copyright of the music produced belonged to him.
Those words provoked controversy online, with Podcast and Chill host MacG denouncing DJ Maphorisa as nothing more than a vampire feeding fat on the blood of the vulnerable and unexposed.
Well, it so happens that there are those who think DJ Maphorisa is right in his verdict about copyright ownership. One of them is DJ Sbu. In a clip currently making the rounds online, the MoFaya boss could be seen stating his support for DJ Maphorsa on the copyright issue.
