DJ Speedsta Reveals Low Salary He Earned at Metro FM

SA Hip Hop star DJ Speedsta has opened up about the low salary he earned at Metro FM and how DJing was his primary source of income.

Not too long ago, DJ Speedsta announced that he had left Metro FM after 5 years with the radio channel. While he was there, he presented a spin-off show. He has now opened up about his salary on the channel.

“In broadcasting, I never made a lot of money from that…Metro FM I was earning R10K a month, I promise to God, for the weekend show.”

He also mentioned other radio and TV presenting gigs, including YFM and V-Entertainment and said he never earned much money from any of them.

“To tell you the truth, I’ve never made a lot of money from the actual broadcasting. I didn’t get money at YFM, V-Entertainment and Metro FM, as well as Live FM.”

“I would say that radio is taking advantage of the power it has on the majority of South Africans. People don’t really know what’s going on.

“Everything I said I tried to explain in the most respectful way possible. It’s for the little kid from the village who wants to be a radio DJ, it’s important for them to know what they are getting themselves into.”
