DJ Tira Shares His Fears Following AKA’s Assassination

His death stunned a whole nation. And now, months after his assassination, the ghost of his gruesome passage still haunts South Africa’s music space. Kiernan “AKA” Forbes is gone, but the circumstances are making some of his fellow musicians jittery.

One such musician is DJ Tira. The Afrotainment boss recently granted an interview with the Daily Sun in which he shared his fears about going to events following the killing of some of his colleagues who were out on gigs in the city.

DJ Sumbody, for instance, was shot dead alongside his bodyguard. It was just a month to December and he was headed out to a gig when unknown gunmen opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

Three months later, on February 10 this year, AKA himself was shot and killed at point-blank range just outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. Like in the case of DJ Sumbody, the Killers have not been found.

This lack of breakthrough in both cases remains a big source of worry to many, especially top figures in the entertainment industry, who now take their security more seriously.
