Documentary Reveals The Moment Kanye West Threatened To Remove Jay-Z’s Verse From Donda Album

It’s been two years since the American rapper Kanye West’s “Donda” album was released but details about the making of the project which the rapper named after his mother are beginning to emerge.

On Wednesday, June 7, a doccie on the making of the 2021 album leaked online, throwing light into the events that culminated in the release of the project.

In one scene, Kanye West could be seen in what appears to be a locker room, making a phone call, he was discussing the listening party for the album and making a semblance of threats against those who featured on the project but who may not show up for the listening party.

He threatened to yank them off the project if they didn’t show up for the listening party. At some point, he laughed and then spoke directly into the camera as the recording continued.

Wanting his collaborators to be present for the listening party was probably the way he wanted them to show their support for the project itself. Merely dropping verses clearly didn’t cut it for him.

Despite the threats, though, Jay-Z’s verse still made it to the finished “Donda” project in 2021. You can check out the doccie below.
