Donald Trump pardons rappers, Lil Wayne and Kodak Black on his final day in office as president.

Donald Trump’s final day in office has seen him grant last-minute clemency to a number of individuals including rappers, Lil Wayne and Kodak Black. This is great news for the Hip Hop community.

Early on Wednesday, January 20th, just hours before Joe Biden was set to be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States, Donald Trump pardoned a total of 73 people and commuted the sentencing of 70 others. The pardon was majorly for his political allies. Among them was Dwayne Carter Jnr. popular called Lil Wayne who pled guilty to a federal gun charge on December 12th, 2020. He faced up to 10 years jail time.

A week prior to the 2020 election, the rapper tweeted his support for Donald Trump. Kodak Black, who is currently behind bars was also among the people pardoned by Donald Trump. The rapper, real name, Bill Kapri, received a commutation in March 2020 after pleading guilty to a firearm charge. He was already sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for making a false statement to buy the weapon, and was still awaiting sentencing. He has already served close of half of that sentence.
